In this volume the author has endeavored to present the history of the Twenty-Seventh Infantry and classified data of historical significance from the records of the regiment. Every effort has been made to obtain accuracy of statement, simplicity of style, and impartiality of treatment. In the preparation of this work his grateful acknowledgments are due to Colonel S. C.
